Why do passengers change to a shuttle at Kedarnath?

Under Government regulation, the final leg into Kedarnath is flown by the Kedarnath shuttle operated by the Uttarakhand Government through IRCTC from the base helipad (Guptkashi, Phata or Sersi). Udan Aviation does not control that shuttle's scheduling, so there can be delays, and passengers may be split across shuttle flights. The Kedarnath shuttle ticket is included in the package.

However, Kedarnath (3,581 m) and Badrinath (about 3,130 m) are high-altitude sites, so anyone with asthma, heart or blood-pressure conditions should consult a doctor, carry medication, and ideally bring a medical fitness certificate. A small oxygen bottle (available locally) is a sensible precaution.

~6:00 AM — Hotel pickup in Dehradun and transfer to Sahastradhara helipad; ground-crew briefing on the trip and do's and don'ts.
7:00 AM — Estimated departure from Sahastradhara helipad, Dehradun.
8:00 AM — Arrive Badrinath; car transfer to the temple (helipad ~1 km away). VIP darshan with ground-staff assistance, roughly 1–2 hours.
10:00 AM — Estimated departure from Badrinath.

Total payload must not exceed 450 kg for up to 6 passengers; the pilot's call on load is final. Declare each passenger's correct weight at booking (on the higher side, including clothes and shoes). Overweight above 75 kg is ₹2,200/kg, collected in Dehradun the day before. A declared-weight discrepancy at weighing carries a ₹30,000 penalty, and wrongly declared weight can mean de-boarding with no refund. Baggage: one soft bag of 3–5 kg per passenger; no trolleys.

Payment terms

30% of the tour cost confirms the booking; the balance is due 40 days before travel. If the balance is not received in time, the booking is cancelled and the advance is forfeited.
